Reflection

My motivation for completing my Edge project was to have experience in the field I want my career in. I wanted a leg up in the field I am going into  so that I will have some experience that other candidates I am competing for jobs will not have.  The process of my Edge project started with reaching out into the community for help with my vision. I then discussed my vision and Discovery Clubhouses  vision for their summer curriculum.   We collaborated and worked together in a series of meetings to make sure that we were both on the same page with our continued vision. I reached out two other teachers in the community for assistance and  advice and resources to help with the summer curriculum.   I then met with the teacher that will be executing my curriculum for any clarification and help.   I then helped facilitate many of the activities throughout the summer. My goal was to create a creek ulam that was in  enriched with fun but still educational based.   I definitely feel that my goal was not only reached but exceeded my expectations.  Skills that are used developed or enhanced were patience, organization, time management, communication skills,  taking feedback and collaborating with others.   all of these skills were  either acquired, enhanced or developed.   All of these skills I will use throughout my career as a teacher.   Southern Utah University requires an  experiential learning requirement To give us some realistic views into the types of projects and career expectations we will have when we graduate.   They want to send us out of  Southern Utah University with realistic expectations and learning. The edge in Edge project is  mini skills such a soft skills, becoming an engagement learner,  then apply the skills to create a project that can enhance our professional career.
